LORETO

Loreto, Mexico is one of only two Pueblos Magico or Magic Towns in Baja California Sur. This designation requires that the town be kept clean and roaming vendors are not allowed. You don't have to worry about being disturbed by people trying to sell you something on the beaches, malecon, or anywhere in town like is prevalent in most other Mexican tourist destinations.

Right off the coast is the Loreto Bay National Marine Park which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can watch the whales, fish, and enjoy diving, snorkeling, and the white sand beaches of the islands in the park.

Loreto is known as a Foodies Paradise with dozens of incredible local restaurants in town, and several bars with live music.

There are land and sea excursions available which include snorkelling, diving, fishing, swimming, hiking, climbing, yoga, ATVs, horseback riding, cooking, dancing, museums, and visiting missions among many others.

Many people choose to drive to Loreto from the US. The trip is very safe as long as you don't drive at night since the biggest danger is hitting a cow on the highway at night. The highway is paved the entire way, but it is narrow and windy with no guardrails in many places. Tens of thousands of people embark on this adventure every year.
